The RFID Professional Institute announced that it has updated its Professional Certificate exam and introduced a new study guide for that exam, enabling anyone around the world to achieve professional certification.

“The original Professional Certificate Exam was developed by the Institute in 2018 as a follow-on to our Associate Certificate Exam,” said Mark Roberti, president of the RFID Professional Institute. “We have completely revamped the exam with input from RFID professionals around the world.”

The exam covers best practices for choosing an RFID system and deploying the solution:

  • Defining the Project’s Scope and Goals
  • Choosing the right Technology: Active, Passive or Battery-Assisted RFID
  • Choosing the Right Passive or Active RFID System (LF, HF, UHF, etc.)
  • Encoding Schemes, Management and Integration
  • Solution Design, Part 1: Hardware
  • Solution Design, Part 2: Connectivity, Data Flow, and Usage
  • Developing the Business Case
  • Pre-Deployment Steps
  • Deploying the RFID Solution
  • Managing Change
  • Post-Deployment Steps
  • Maintenance, Support and Troubleshooting

Topics and questions have been updated to cover changes in the RFID industry since the original exam was developed, including changes to standards and new products and features now available.

“The Study Guide has taken more than 12 months to produce,” Roberti said. “Chapters were written, edited and reviewed by RFID professionals, who provided invaluable input. Even if you don’t have a desire to get certified, it can serve as a blueprint for deploying a successful RFID system.”

The exam is taken online via a third-party test engine (TestInvite.com). A voucher can be purchased from the RFID Professional Institute’s website. Those interested can also purchase the study guide from the website. Those who pass the exam will receive a digital certificate secured via blockchain and hosted by VerifyEd.io.
