Rifflandia taking over RFID refund process after many Victorians left frustrated

Following this year’s edition of Rifflandia, many festival-goers have been expressing frustration over unrecovered funds they expected back promptly.

This year, Rifflandia introduced radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags on all wristband passes for guests.

The idea was to allow for people to load money onto their unique RFID tag, allowing them to pay for food, drinks and wares with the tag, rather than worry about paying with cash or cards.

However, following the festival, many people have been struggling to get the leftover funds on their RFID tag back into their bank accounts.

Many individuals who have tried to get their money back have been told by third-party companies tasked with managing the RFID funds, Fever, Idasfest and Tipalti, that their “payment was rejected due to invalid routing information (Bank Code).”

Because of the mounting frustration of festival’s attendees, Rifflandia has announced they will be taking over the refund process.

On Thursday, September 25th, Rifflandia made a social media post with an image saying, “It was new. It’s been hard. And frustrating. We’re sorting it out. We’re sorry. Everyone will get their RFID refund. Please check your email.”

In the social media post’s body, they wrote that Rifflandia Entertainment Company is taking over direct control of the repayment of outstanding refunds as well as communication regarding the process, so long as a request for refund has been made.

They noted that if a request for refund has been met with a bank routing error from Fever, Idasfest and Tipalti, an email will be sent directly from Rifflandia with an update on how the process will be handled going forward.

Those seeking a refund are being advised to check their emails immediately to receive information on recovering funds.
